Nurturing homegrown development in South Africa

Thatu supports such self-help and home-grown projects in poorly resourced communities in South Africa so that they can flourish and reach their full potential – sustaining the future.

Funds raised by Thatu pay for essential equipment, such as tools, fencing, water pipes, plants and compost, intensive training in permaculture (eco-friendly) gardening and 'through-the-seasons' advice about sustainable cultivation.

Even when not directly providing assistance, they seek to maintain ongoing relationships with communities to live out the commitment to their sustainable success – giving advice, introducing local contacts, sharing enthusiasm and praise.

They have established partners in South Africa and work on projects across the country – in Gauteng, Western Cape, Kwa-Zulu Natal etc.
